Star Trek Review

Gave this movie a 3!

Star Trek is directed by J. J. Abrams. It is the eleventh film based on the Star Trek franchise and features the main characters of the original Star Trek series who are played by a new cast though the film introduces an alternative timeline which differs from the original series. It explores the backstories of James T. Kirk and Spock before they unite aboard the USS Enterprise to combat Nero who is a Romulan from the future who threatens the United Federation of Planets.

I will not go into the story line to much except to say that it is full of action and amazing special effects along with some moments that had me on the edge of my seat. The cast also do an excellent job portraying the main characters though I do feel that Chris Pine who played Captain Kirk did not quite capture the character or sardonic wit that William Shatner did. He did though do his best along with the rest of the cast. It also great to see Leonard Nimoy back playing an older Spock.

My main criticisms of the film are that it is too long and at times the story line confusing and not easy to follow. This is partly because there is a hell of the a lot going on so you don't want to take your eye off the ball. All in all a very enjoyable movie and one to definitely watch.

Here is a trailer for the film.

Angels And Demons Review - its not as boring as the Divinci Code - out May 15

Ok I gave this one a 3 - this is why:

Angels And Demons Review.
As we all know the first movie - the Davinci code a remake of Dan Browns famous series was a flop. So Tom hanks must have been SH*ting himself when he realised he signed a contract to make the remaining movies. So now Tom Hanks and Ron Howard team up again to this interesting prequel along with Ewan McGregor.
The reviews for this movie look positive this time - infact it looks like Ron learnt his lessons with the Davinci code which was criticised for being boring and dull.
The movie is praised with being "exciting , edge of the seat and climatic" so guess it sounds good this time:

Tributes Paid To Comedian DeLuise

Mel Brooks and Burt Reynolds are among those who have paid tribute to actor and comedian Dom DeLuise, who has died in Los Angeles at the age of 75. He had appeared in scores of films, TV shows and Broadway plays and provided voices for numerous cartoon characters. DeLuise is best known for his roles in such Mel Brooks comedies as Blazing Saddles, Silent Movie and History of the World: Part I.

Here's a hilarious clip of him in History Of The World Part 1. Dom, we miss you.

Former Publicist To Sue Jackson

A former publicist for Michael Jackson says she is suing the singer for $44m (£29m) for his alleged failure to pay her for her services. Raymone Bain said Mr Jackson had agreed to give her a share of profits from deals she arranged and that she was "disappointed" he had not done so. Ms Bain acted as Mr Jackson's publicist during his 2005 trial for child abuse.

There has been no comment from the singer, who is reported to have been in financial difficulties for some years. Ms Bain, a trained lawyer, regularly briefed the media on Mr Jackson's state of mind during his lengthy trial, at which he was found not guilty of child molestation.

She was later made general manager of the Michael Jackson Company, which handles the singer's business affairs. In the lawsuit, filed in Washington DC, Ms Bain said Mr Jackson had agreed to pay her 10% of any business deals arranged with her assistance, but had not done so. The deals included the 25th anniversary relaunch of his successful Thriller album and a series of concerts in London scheduled for this July.

Ms Bain said it was with "deep regret" that she was launching the legal action against someone she "greatly admired and respected". "Unfortunately, Mr Jackson has elected not to honour the financial obligations of our contractual relationship, despite my numerous attempts to amicably resolve this matter," she said. "I am sincerely disappointed in Mr Jackson's failure to honour his obligations."

Ms Bain said she expected the the lawsuit would result in "hypothetical theories, accusations and rumours" about the relationship between her and Mr Jackson, but that the truth would emerge in court.

She added that despite the legal action, she had no regrets about working with Mr Jackson. "Michael Jackson, in my opinion, is the 'King of Pop'," she said.

Mr Jackson has faced several law suits in the past few years from former friends, employees and associates claiming he owed them money. Last year, he lost ownership of his sprawling Neverland ranch after failing to pay his staff or to cover arrears and insurance costs for the property.

Thriller is one of our favourite songs and below we have a short clip of it Star Wars Style.
